12 Holiday Tags

I meet once a month with a local scrapbooking club. Holla to the scrappin' ladies! It is a wonderful group of crafters headed by the very talented and delightful Jodie Berdiales. It is the first year for the club, and our first holiday season together so Jodie organized a tag swap for us. I have never done a tag swap before and I am happy to say I now have 12 amazing tags to adorn my gifts. I wanted to share these tags with you. Some have step by step instructions that will follow the photos so you can create these great tags yourself. This will be a two part post so check back soon for the next 6 tags!

*Reindeer Tag Directions from Jodie Berdiales:

Wooden reindeer made by Kaiser (ebay).

Apply gold leaf adhesive (Michaels) with a tiny paintbrush and allowed to dry 4 hrs. until tacky to the touch.

Using Variegated Gold Leaf sheets in Green & Red (Michaels), alternate colors, tearing tiny bits of each sheet using tweezers and apply. When the reindeer is totally covered, use tweezers to hold the reindeer and with your other hand use a tiny bristled stencil brush, tapping the gold leaf down inbetween the crevices. It may be necessary to reapply additional adhesive and layer more gold leaf on top to get the effect you want. Gold leaf is extremely fragile and it literally disintegrates but if you are patient the end result will be worth it.

I lined up my reindeer to dry and was surprised to learn it took 6 weeks for them to totally be dry to the touch.  I'm glad I started them in September!

Tree:  I saw a tree by Tim Holtz but decided to make my own using the thin chipboard cut from a cereal box.

I lathered it with gold stencil paste and tapped the paste it to give it some texture but it still needed something so I sprinkled gold microbeads while it was wet.

I dabbed green metallic paint here and there and sprinkled chunky glitter on the funky star and allowed it to dry.
Papers Used:  Dark Green reindeer paper from Yellow Bicycle, lighter green from my stash of scraps.
Grommet used:  7 Gypsies

Other:  Reindeer Charm (local bead store), bells and ribbon, to/from stamp (ebay), heavier chipboard from my stash.

*Victorian Santa Tag by Heather Searls:

Create two victorian santa images.

Distress the edges on the background and layer onto background paper.

Cut out the santa from the second image and attach with pop dots.

Hand color and add glitter.

Attach glitter covered plastic greenery for santa to hold.
