We had earlier reported on the possible BlackBerry BB10 tablet and a BB10 phablet for this year and nowBarron’s is quoting a report by Jefferies analyst Peter Misek that claims BlackBerry will bring out a 5-inch BB10 phablet based on the Z10 design towards the end of the year. Misek also believes that BlackBerry plans to launch as many as two other models along with a phablet, which includes a more affordable BB10 Curve smartphone.
“Based on our checks we believe confirmation that 2-3 additional BB10 models are likely to launch before year end. A mid-range (i.e., ~$400) keyboard, a mid-range touch, and a 5-inch Z10-like device (slated for year end launch),” Misek wrote in a note to investors.
An alleged leaked BlackBerry product roadmap for the year showed that BlackBerry planned to launch at least five devices excluding the Z10. One of those five devices was a phablet codenamed U10 slated for Q4 release, though the size and details of the phablet have so far remained inside the rumor bag.
Barron’s report suggests that along with the phablet, BlackBerry is also working on a keyboard-based device and a mid-range device, one of which could possibly be the earlier reported R10, which is expected to be BlackBerry’s next Curve phone based on BB10 OS to be launched in May.
