Apple is reportedly gearing up to make big changes to iOS 7, changes so big that it’s had to pull engineers away from OS X 10.9 development to help get it finished for its release later this year. I’m just hoping that the Cupertino company adds some of the features included in the latest iOS 7 concept video below.
Designed by Federico Bianco, the concept adds almost every feature we’ve ever wanted in iOS, including quick message reply, quick settings, widgets, Mission Control, and lots more. Check it out below.
Unlike the iOS 7 concepts we’ve already seen, which just describe a couple of new features, Bianco’s runs for four minutes and demonstrates a whole host of improvements to the iOS platform. Every change he’s made would enhance the iOS experience without completely overhauling it.
Is there a feature in that video you wouldn’t like to see on your iPhone or iPad? I particularly like quick reply and the clever “widgets” that appear when you double-tap an app icon. These are changes that would make a number of simple tasks — such as replying to a text message — much quicker.
What’s nice about Bianco’s concept is that it makes all of these improvements without really changing too much; it’s still the same iOS we’ve been using for the past six years, only better. I’m in the camp that’s been crying out for an iOS refresh, but this concept proves the platform could be improved without major changes.
