Samsung Galaxy S4 - to ship with Snapdragon quad-core processor in 7m handsets 2013

According to Korean news outlet ETNews, Samsung has been unable to produce sufficient quantities of its new octa-core Exynos system-on-chip that was debuted at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES). As a result, some 70 per cent of the first 10 million Galaxy S4 handsets released to market from next month will purportedly feature a Snapdragon 600 CPU instead.
It was commonly believed that the international Galaxy S4 would ship with Samsung’s latest in-house system-on-chip, while the US version would rock Qualcomm’s quad-core LTE-enabled silicon.
However, since then – and much to our disappointment, we must admit - Samsung sources have revealed that the model that will launch in the UK will feature a quad-core processor.
The move was baffling to say the least. Considering how successful the Galaxy S3 has been in these Isles, we figured we'd more than warrant the ‘best’ version of the S4. Now, though, it seems the electronics maker is clearly struggling with reaching commercial yield of its latest chip.
Whether that means the UK could eventually get the eight-core version of the S4 is anybody’s guess at this point, but if this intel is accurate, we can’t see why it wouldn’t.
For most smartphone buyers, the processor is unlikely to be deciding factor, because even with a quad-core chip, the S4 has already outclassed the best smartphones in market in a benchmark tests.
Its real selling points are likely to be its host of ‘Smart’ software features, a five-inch full HD display with a Retina-popping 441 ppi density and a 13-megapixel full HD camera.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 goes on pre-order this week and will be released on April 26th on all the major networks and retailer
